Barnes & Noble College in California is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help lead daily bookstore operations, supervise staff, and ensure outstanding customer service. You will work with the Store Manager to drive sales, manage cash handling, and deliver a welcoming campus retail experience.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in retail, some supervisory experience, and a high school diploma or GED. Flexible scheduling, strong communication, and problem-solving skills are essential; benefits

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations in partnership with the Store Manager or General Manager.
• Direct operations, scheduling, and team development.
• Deliver outstanding customer service and help meet sales goals.
• Train and motivate team; handle customer and employee issues.
• Maintain appearance of sales floor and assist with transactions.
