Job summary

Barnes & Noble College in Mobile, AL, is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily operations and drive sales in a campus bookstore. You will supervise staff, engage customers, and work with the Store or General Manager to deliver outstanding service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager or General Manager.
• Involved in purchasing for one or more departments, directing operational functions, and/or scheduling and team development.
• Provide outstanding customer service to the academic and co-curricular community while helping the store meet or exceed sales goals.
• Drive the team to create customer experiences that enhance bookstore loyalty and deliver measurable results.
• Assist with training and coaching team members.
• Maintain an appealing sales floor and assist with processing sales transactions.
