Job summary

Barnes & Noble College in New Jersey is seeking an energetic Assistant Store Manager to help run the bookstore, supervise staff, and deliver outstanding customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will partner with the Store Manager to meet sales goals, support departments, and train team members while maintaining a welcoming campus store that serves students, faculty, and the community.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a retail setting.
• 1+ year supervisory experience preferred or completion of Best Seller Program.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with financial and customer service principles.
• Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support store operations and departments in partnership with the Store Manager.
• Direct work activities for team members to ensure delivery of services, sales, and customer service.
• Maintain a presence on the sales floor to greet customers and assist with purchases.
• Manage customer and employee issues professionally and promptly.
• Assist with hiring and training new employees for the sales floor or other departments.
• Maintain an appealing sales floor, organize product displays and space.
• Process sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
