Job summary

The Halal Shack - UVA is seeking an Assistant General Manager to run campus restaurant operations with a schedule aligned to the academic calendar. You’ll lead front- and back-of-house teams, oversee daily operations, and drive financial performance during the 32-week academic season, then enjoy an extended summer break before returning.

This role emphasizes hospitality, staff development, and brand standards, with opportunities for growth into GM or multi-unit leadership as the program expands.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of restaurant management experience with increasing responsibility.
• At least 2 years leading supervisors or large hourly teams.
• Strong leadership, financial acumen, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• A genuine commitment to hospitality and delivering an outstanding guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead your team by recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and retaining staff while building accountability and hospitality.
• Oversee daily operations, uphold food quality, cleanliness, food safety, sanitation, inventory, ordering, and vendor relations.
• Assist with labor management, food cost, controllable expenses, and use sales data to improve results.
• Set guest experience standards, resolve concerns professionally, and ensure brand consistency daily.
