Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited invites candidates for Underground Safety & Training Coordinator at the Pogo operation in Alaska on a 21/21 rotating camp schedule. The role reports to the Senior Safety & Training Coordinator and focuses on delivering training and safety programs for the Mining Department.

You will induct personnel, promote safe practices, participate in investigations, maintain SOPs/JHA, and ensure MSHA compliance. Strong communication and training delivery skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Blue Card certified (Underground) required.
• Certified Drug & Alcohol collection and testing.
• Current Driver’s License.
• Experience in mechanized hard-rock underground mining.
• Knowledge of MSHA Act & Regulations.
• Experience in incident investigation and reporting.
• Familiarity with INX database modules (InTuition, InFlight, InControl).
• Ability to deliver training to crews.
• Auditing or inspection experience.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Induct and train personnel in work areas and site rules.
• Support new initiatives and implement changes as directed.
• Promote and enforce safe work practices.
• Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes.
• Facilitate formal risk assessments.
• Monitor MSHA-compliant procedures and training.
• Inspect underground work areas and stockpiles for safety.
• Lead daily safety meetings for underground mining.
• Maintain SOPs, emergency procedures and JHA records.
• Ensure safety activities comply with policy and MSHA requirements.
