Job summary

Northern Star Pogo LLC invites a Senior Mining Engineer to join our Pogo operation in Alaska on a rotational camp schedule. You will supervise engineers, graduates and interns, ensure safe and compliant mine planning, and coordinate with key stakeholders to meet production targets.

You will bring 4–10 years of mining experience (3+ underground), proficiency in mine design software, and a track record in long hole open stoping. A challenging camp environment and growth opportunities await.

Qualifications

• Four to ten years progressively responsible relevant work experience. Prefer minimum 3 years underground mining experience.
• Proficient with Deswick/Vulcan, Minecad, AutoCAD, VnetPC, EPS and Qualtrax.
• Experience with Long Hole Open Stoping, preferably narrow vein with paste backfill.
• Must pass a post offer physical and drug test, as well as a background check.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train and mentor the team of mining engineers, graduates and interns.
• Ensure all work is planned and conducted safely and in accordance with NSR standards and MSHA regulations.
• Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Lead mine planning and scheduling meetings.
• Maintain engagement with stakeholders (NSMS, Geology, Survey, Safety and contractors).
• Perform financial evaluations and cost analyses for projects.
• Prepare budget work for expansion, quality and productivity improvements.
• Conduct workplace inspections in the underground mine for quality and safety.
• Identify and resolve safety hazards in the workplace.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
