Job summary

Northern Star Resources Limited is seeking a Mine Control Operator at the Pogo operation in Alaska on a 28 days on/14 days off rotating schedule. The role centers on providing communication, coordination and recording services for personnel and equipment status within the underground operation.

Responsibilities include monitoring ventilation, water inflows, shift communication and accurate logging of equipment movements and production data.

Qualifications

• Underground mining environment experience.
• Knowledge of mining machinery used underground.
• Experience in radio communications with multiple channels.
• Prior dispatching or logistics experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Flexible to adapt to new procedures and practices.
• Knowledge of Mine Safety and Health Administration Act & regulations.
• Must pass a post offer physical and drug test, and a background check.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control ventilation fans and mine water inflows according to site procedures; notify the responsible engineer in the event of faults.
• Continually communicate with shift supervisors regarding production and safety throughout the shift.
• Communicate assignments to operators as directed by shift supervisors.
• Ensure all bogging, trucking, production drilling, development drilling, charge up operations and service crew operations are accounted for with operator, machine number, location, tonnes bogged and trucked, material type, mechanical and electrical breakdowns and mine delays.
• Coordinate movement of gear between mining and maintenance crews to minimize idle time of the transition.
• Deliver detailed information as required by mining and maintenance supervisors.
