Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Bakery Clerk to create an outstanding customer experience and keep the bakery department clean and inviting. You will assist the department manager in reaching sales goals and ensure quality standards are met.

In this role you’ll answer questions, demonstrate product knowledge, decorate cakes and pastries, and prepare wedding cakes per customer requests. You’ll display items, check freshness, and follow safety guidelines to serve customers with care.

Qualifications

• Any retail experience.
• Any bakery/cake decorating experience.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions about products to help customers.
• Gain knowledge of department products and respond to questions.
• Offer samples and prepare bakery items such as wedding cakes.
• Recommend bakery items to customers to meet needs.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates; use bakery equipment accordingly.
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items.
• Label, stock, sign, and inventory merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Follow store layout and stay current with ads and promotions.
• Maintain inventory and report discrepancies to management.
• Adhere to health, safety and loss prevention policies.
• Ensure safe operation of equipment and report any repairs.
• Report safety risks or incidents as required.
• Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
