Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Bakery Department Associate to deliver outstanding customer experiences and maintain a safe, inviting store environment. You will assist the department manager in meeting sales goals, stock and label merchandise, decorate bakery items, and ensure product freshness and proper labeling.

Responsibilities include answering questions, offering samples, maintaining knowledge of products, and adhering to health, safety, and loss-prevention standards daily.

• Knowledge of basic math.
• Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Offer product samples and prepare bakery items per customer requests using bakery equipment.
• Recommend bakery items to ensure customers get what they want and need.
• Check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and use equipment per guidelines.
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items.
• Label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout and locate products; stay current with ads.
• Maintain awareness of inventory levels and note discrepancies.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and store policies.
• Report safety risks and incidents to management; participate in prevention programs.
