Job summary

Meriwether Godsey is seeking a Cafeteria/Food Services Associate at Sweet Briar College in Amherst, VA for a temporary role. You will greet customers, handle registers, transport meals, and assist in meal service and cleanup.

The position requires 1-2 years of food service experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and flexibility to switch locations and duties. ServSafe certification is preferred, and reliable transportation is expected.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and good organizational skills.

• ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a positive and friendly attitude.
• Operate registers, scanners, scales, and credit card/debit card terminals while handling exchanges in a quick, efficient manner.
• Transport food and supplies to the cafeteria area: assist in the set-up, maintenance, and breakdown of the cafeteria, food serving, and beverage areas.
• Serve and replenish food from food counters and steam tables.
• Assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods and properly stores food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage.
• Keep cafeteria areas and assigned kitchen areas neat and organized.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, dining tables, chairs, and equipment throughout and after meal periods.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of other kitchen areas by following daily and weekly cleaning assignments.
• Inspect workstations for compliance with service standards.
• Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
