Job summary

Meriwether Godsey, Inc. is seeking a Cafeteria/Food Services Associate at Sweet Briar College in Amherst, VA. This temporary role pays $13.75 per hour and requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

You will greet customers, operate registers and food service equipment, and help with food prep, setup, and cleanup in a fast-paced, team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of related food service experience.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Excellent communication and good organizational skills.
• Flexibility to switch between locations and duties.
• Reliable transportation for shifting schedules.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a positive and friendly attitude.
• Operate registers, scanners, scales and card terminals efficiently.
• Transport food and supplies to the cafeteria area and assist with setup and breakdown.
• Serve and replenish food from counters and steam tables.
• Assist in preparation of hot and cold foods and store properly.
• Keep cafeteria and kitchen areas neat and sanitary throughout shifts.
• Clean and sanitize work areas, tables, chairs and equipment after meals.
• Follow daily/weekly cleaning assignments and safety requirements.

Meriwether Godsey is looking for a Cafeteria/Food Services Associateat Sweet Briar College, located in Amherst, VA.

• Temporary
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
• Pay rate: $13.75 per hour

What you will do:

• Greet customers with a positive and friendly attitude
• Operate registers, scanners, scales, and credit card/debit card terminals while handling exchanges in a quick, efficient manner
• Transport food and supplies to the cafeteria area: assist in the set-up, maintenance, and breakdown of the cafeteria, food serving, and beverage areas.
• Serve and replenish food from food counters and steam tables.
• Assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods and properly stores food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage.
• Keep cafeteria areas and assigned kitchen areas neat and organized
• Clean and sanitize work areas, dining tables, chairs, and equipment throughout and after meal periods
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of other kitchen areas by following daily and weekly cleaning assignments
• Inspect workstations for compliance with service standards.
• Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
