Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a Food Service Worker to support Ruby Cafeteria AM Relief and Nutrition Department operations. You will prepare work areas, stock supplies, follow recipes, and serve customers with a focus on accuracy and sanitation.

Shifts include early mornings with weekend and holiday rotation. This role requires physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand through the shift, delivering friendly, efficient service in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• FSWP from MCHD required before starting or obtain a MCHD Temporary FSWP by the first Wednesday; must maintain FSWP throughout employment.
• May not handle exposed food without temporary FSWP until obtained; training on tray delivery and orientation.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all work areas for operation, per task assignment.
• Fills bucket with sanitizing solution, and a clean wiping cloth; maintain sanitizer strength.
• Set-up, restocks, clean and organizes assigned area; maintain clean, organized appearance.
• Gathers utensils based on correct portions.
• Produces and maintains quality food and beverage products.
• Prepares attractive and appetizing foods utilizing quality ingredients.
• Prepares timely products, fresh throughout service and not in excess (batch production).
• Utilizes leftovers, using the first in, first out method.
• Follows menu cycle and utilizes standardized recipes.
• Correctly portions food and provides quality service leading to customer/patient satisfaction.
• Greets customers, asks for order and services efficiently.
• Remains focused on customer and service throughout encounter.
• Is knowledgeable about ingredients and allergens; asks when unsure.
• Addresses customer complaints politely; seeks management assistance when needed.
• Removes trash promptly; cleans spills and posts caution signage.
• Merchandises area with clean, attractive displays and pricing labels.
• Ensures sanitation, safety and quality control per policies.
• Proper use of cleaning chemicals; stores and labels items properly.
