Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab seeks a Cook to prepare and cook meals in the cafeteria, serving patients and staff with courtesy and timeliness. You will maintain sanitation, follow safety and food handling standards, and assist with other duties as needed by SRALAB.

The role requires reading and following instructions, 1–3 months of food service experience, and the ability to work with various cooking devices while handling up to ten pounds.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Approximately 1–3 months of on-the-job experience in food service.
• Ability to manipulate cooking devices and foods weighing up to ten pounds.
• Interpersonal skills to interact politely with staff, patients and families.
• Ability to coordinate several tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals in the cafeteria.
• Provide courteous and timely setup and service in the cafeteria.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of service ware, pots, pans and equipment.
• Follow safe food handling practices and temperature controls.
• Sustain a sanitary work environment according to health standards.
