Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, IL is seeking a Cook to prepare, cook and serve meals in the cafeteria and ensure high standards of food safety and cleanliness. You will handle setup, service, and maintenance of kitchen equipment while following health and department policies.

The role requires basic reading/communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to respectful patient and staff interactions. This is a full-time, on-site position in our facilities.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with staff, patients and families in a courteous manner.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals in the cafeteria.
• Provide courteous and timely setup and service in the cafeteria.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of service ware, pots, pans, equipment and work areas.
• Follow safe food handling practices and maintain proper temperatures.
• Sustain a sanitary work environment and follow department policies.
