Job summary

Sightglass Coffee Roasters Llc in California is seeking a dedicated Shift Lead to support daily cafe operations, serve as leader-on-duty, and ensure the team stays customer‑focused, productive, and aligned with all policies and procedures throughout the shift.

You will manage task delegation, assist with ordering and inventory, uphold cash handling and safety standards, supervise service quality, mentor staff, and relay feedback to management to continuously improve store performance.

Qualifications

• Must be able to maintain a positive demeanor under stress with staff and patrons.
• Demonstrates good leadership and is empathetic and supportive when engaging the team.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality required.

Responsibilities

• Strives for high standards in beverage, food, customer interactions, and store operations.
• Educates staff and customers on current offerings (beans, drinks, food, merchandise).
• Assist with ordering coffee, milk, pastries, inventory as assigned by Store Manager.
• Monitor daily cafe schedule and provide feedback to improve results.
• Maintain cash drawers, cashier turn-ins and deposits per cash handling procedures.
• Uphold company policies including cash handling, product standards, safety, cleanliness, and hospitality best practices.
• Provide constructive feedback to the team and communicate staff difficulties and triumphs to the Store Manager.
• Maintain shift flow by delegating tasks (cleaning, stocking, prepping) and ensuring focus on customer service and sales.
• Set a positive, solution-oriented tone; respond to customer and staff inquiries with patience and professionalism.
• Conduct monthly inventory as assigned.
