Job summary

Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking a CADD Support Consultant to assist in the support and implementation of CADD software and workspaces within the Department. You will provide day-to-day user support, maintain software standards, and help develop training and best practices for Bentley OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Modeler, InRoads, and MicroStation suites.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years documenting/revising processes to meet CADD software requirements.
• 2-4 years supporting Department personnel in CADD software development/testing/implementation.
• 2-4 years working directly with CADD software (Bentley suite).
• 3+ years knowledge of Visual Basic; Python proficiency strongly preferred.
• Public sector and/or transportation experience strongly preferred.

• Maintain Engineering Software Standards & Documentation: determine best practices and workflows.
• Develop & Conduct CADD Training: help create and deliver training sessions.

Summary & Objective

Under general supervision, the consultant analyzes customer business needs and participates in the planning, design, and implementation of new or enhanced systems.

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Office of Design & Policy Support is seeking to hire a CADD Support Consultant to assist in the support and implementation of CADD software and workspaces within the Department. The consultant will assist Department personnel in the development, testing, and implementation of CADD software, primarily Bentley OpenRoads Designer and Bentley OpenBridge Modeler, with some need to support legacy workspaces for Bentley InRoads, MicroStation SS2, CAiCE, and Bentley MicroStation.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day user support:
  • Troubleshoot user issues submitted via the ServiceNow ticketing system.
  • Perform software installations as needed for users.
  • Assist with external user workspace installation.
• Maintain Engineering Software Standards & Documentation: Determine the best way to use Bentley software to achieve design or plan preparation goals, and the best way to utilize the GDOT workspace. The primary development task is the documentation of best practices (e.g., how-to's and workflows).
• Develop & Conduct CADD Training: Experience is preferred but not required. The candidate will be expected to help develop and conduct CADD software/workspace user training sessions as needed.
• Process Documentation: Document and revise existing and new business processes to meet new/revised CADD software requirements.
• Establish Best Practices: Develop CADD software best practices for departmental use.
• Technology Research: Investigate new and emerging CADD technology and make recommendations to Department personnel and management for implementation.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 2-4 Years Experience: Documenting/revising existing and new business processes to meet new/revised CADD software requirements (or a combination of experience with these duties).
• 2-4 Years Experience: Supporting Department personnel in the development, testing, and implementation of CADD software.
• 2-4 Years Experience: Working directly with CADD software (specifically Bentley OpenRoads Designer, Bentley OpenBridge, Bentley InRoads, MicroStation SS2, CAiCE, and Bentley MicroStation).
• 3 Years Experience: Some knowledge of Visual Basic is preferred. Python proficiency is strongly preferred.
• Preferred Experience: Public sector and/or transportation experience is strongly preferred. A background in transportation engineering is a huge plus.
