Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) seeks a part-time CAD Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley Research Center. The role focuses on developing CAD models for free flight and forced oscillation tests to study dynamic stability of blunt entry geometries.

Responsibilities include creating models in .igs/.stp and CAD native formats, designing oscillation configurations, and enabling movable center of gravity with FDM 3D printing for test validation.

Qualifications

Undergraduate or Graduate student pursuing mechanical or aerospace engineering.
Minimum of 2 years' experience developing CAD models or 2 semesters of CAD coursework.
Experience with .igs or .stp formats and native CAD formats.
Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

Develop models in .igs or .stp and native CAD formats used for design work.
Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting interface references.
Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for mounting to a balance sting.
Create CAD solid models for free flight wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing or similar methods.
Design models to enable a movable center of gravity.
