Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc (AMA) seeks a part-time CAD Modeling Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley Research Center. You will develop CAD models in .igs/.stp and other CAD formats, and design oscillation configurations with precise mounting interfaces for testing dynamic stability studies.

The role requires 2+ years CAD experience, an engineering degree focus in mechanical or aerospace, and onsite work at Langley.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum 2 years' CAD modeling experience or 2 CAD course semesters.
• Experience with IGES/STEP formats and CAD files.
• Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

• Develop models in the form of .igs or .stp, as well as the native CAD format used for the design work.
• Develop CAD models for oscillation configurations that include location of mounting interface at specified reference points.
• Design geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for accurate and reliable mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of free flight wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing methods or similar.
• Design the models to enable a movable center of gravity.
