Job summary

Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc. (AMA) is seeking a CAD Model Design Intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley Research Center.

The intern will develop free flight and forced oscillation models for rapid prototype fabrication and conduct tests to study dynamic stability of blunt entry vehicles. The role requires CAD modeling in IGES/STEP, on-site work at NASA Langley, and coursework in mechanical or aerospace engineering.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or Graduate student in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years' CAD modeling experience or 2 CAD course semesters.
• Experience with IGES or STEP formats and native CAD formats.
• Ability to work onsite at NASA Langley.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAD models as .igs/.stp and native CAD formats used in the design work.
• Create CAD models for oscillation configurations with mounting reference points.
• Design geometry for thermal inset fasteners for mounting to the balance sting.
• Create CAD solid models of wind tunnel models using FDM 3D printing or similar methods.
• Design models to enable a movable center of gravity.
