Job summary

Locally Grown Restaurants is seeking a busser in Anchorage to support servers and staff by clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables, transporting dishes, and restocking glasses and silverware. Maintain restaurant cleanliness throughout the shift and help with the overall pace during peak hours.

The role requires multitasking and speed, with responsibilities including pre-bussing, side-work, and assisting with dish and bar station upkeep to ensure a smooth dining experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be able to communicate, write, and understand English.
• Must have a current Municipality of Anchorage Food Worker Card.

Responsibilities

• Make sure that the dining areas are ready for service.
• Knows all table numbers and server sections.
• Takes ownership of the look and cleanliness of the tables in the restaurant.
• Is constantly pre-bussing, picking up trash, and straightening tables and chairs as needed.
• Completes opening, ongoing, and closing side work.
• Clears, cleans, and resets tables efficiently and effectively, including sweeping under tables when needed.
• Manages sani-bucket and towels as needed.
• Sets up incoming bussers by restocking and communicating with the incoming staff.
• Answers guest questions or escalates to server or MOD when needed.
• Keeps ice in server/bar stations well-stocked.
• Sorts dirty dishes and flatware to dish area, stacks neatly.
• Polishes glassware and silverware as needed.
• Mops up spills and cleans up messes during business hours when required.

Summary

The busser is responsible for providing support to the servers, and other staff as needed. The basic duties are to clear, clean, and reset tables, take bus tubs and glass racks to the dish room, pre-bus tables, and re-stock glasses and silverware. The busser is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the restaurant throughout their shift.

Bussers need to have strong multitasking skills, keep pace with the busyness of the restaurant, and be efficient with their time. This is particularly crucial during solo shifts and peak hours of service, as they are part of the responsibility of helping with the overall pace and flow of the dining room.

Operations

• Make sure that the dining areas are ready for service
• Knows all table numbers and server sections
• Takes ownership of the look and cleanliness of the tables in the restaurant
• Is constantly pre-bussing, picking up trash from the floor, straightening tables and chairs, etc., as needed
• Completes all opening, ongoing, and closing side work
• Clears, cleans, and resets tables efficiently and effectively, including sweeping under tables when needed
• Manages and changes the sani-bucket every two hours and towels as needed
• Sets up incoming bussers for success by restocking and communicating with the incoming staff
• Answers guest questions if possible or immediately gets their server or MOD
• Keeps ice in the server/bar stations well-stocked
• Sorts dirty dishes and flatware to appropriate locations in the dish area, scrapes all remaining food off dishes, and stacks them in an organized manner
• Polishes glassware and silverware as needed
• Is occasionally expected to mop up spills and broken glass, and clean up any messes that may occur during business hours

Other Qualifications
