Job summary

Happy Does Nashville is seeking a friendly Busser to support servers, reset and stock tables, and maintain a clean dining area. You will help ensure a smooth service flow during busy shifts and contribute to a welcoming guest experience.

The position requires basic English, ability to lift and move dining ware, and a positive energy. Prior restaurant experience helps, and ServSafe awareness is a plus. This role is on-site and pays $15 per hour plus tips.

Qualifications

  • Take out trash and ensure proper mise en place.

BUSSER JOB SUMMARY:

The Busser is responsible for:(1) cleaning and resetting tables after guests leave the restaurant, (2) ensuring the restaurant is stocked with clean silverware, plates and glasses, (3) supporting servers’ table service as directed by the servers and MOD, and (4) maintaining the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and server stations.

BUSSER ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain a positive, high, well-balanced energy level throughout the entire shift
  • Have strong interpersonal communication skills in order to greet guests, answer guest questions and address guest concerns in a warm, professional, and accommodating manner
  • Exhibit consistently dependable, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy conduct
  • Provide exemplary guest service on a consistent basis
  • Complete any and all assigned cleaning duties, including stocking and organization
  • Perform all assigned side-work quickly and efficiently
  • Properly set up and break down stations before and after operating hours
  • Clean and reset tables after guests leave the restaurant
  • Remove dirty utensils and replenish, as needed
  • Ensure the restaurant is stocked with clean silverware, plates, and glassware
  • Keep service stations clean
  • Take out trash
  • Bring bus tubs back to the kitchen when they are full
  • Move tables, chairs, and furniture to accommodate guests as needed
BUSSER SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY
  • Knowledge of Teamwork and Toast POS system
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language to interact with guests, the public, and coworkers
  • Proficient verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and professionally deal with stressful situations during busy periods in a loud, busy, and crowded environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction
  • Must have strong knowledge of food menus
  • Must have the ability to carry multiple plates at one time sometimes using a large tray and tray jack
  • Knowledge of proper food handling requirements
  • Knowledge of bar and kitchen items
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of daily maintenance and cleaning of venue
  • Must have knowledge of all required legal documents, i.e., A.B.C., Health Department, Police, City, Etc.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent optional

Experience

Minimum of one year’s experience in a fast-paced restaurant/bar

Age

Must be at least 18 years old.

Licenses or Certificates

ServSafe Certification

ABC Server Permit

CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be able to work in an environment with constantly elevated temperatures
  • Must be able to work and move quickly in a tight-space environment in a safe manner without disrupting other employees
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
