The Business Office Assistant at St. Matthew's School is a full-time, 12-month position (Approximately 20 hours per week during summer months while school is not in session) reporting to the Director of Business and the Principal, serving as a vital operational hub and the primary liaison between the business office, parents, staff, and vendors. This multifaceted role supports day-to-day operations across finance, human resources, and general administration. Core financial responsibilities include managing accounts receivable and payable, tracking and reconciling tuition and financial aid through FACTS, preparing bank deposits, overseeing special event and fundraising cash management, and assisting with budget tracking and vendor relations. Additionally, the assistant supports HR functions by maintaining employee records, timesheets, and leave approvals within UKG, while providing broader operational backup through substitute front-desk coverage, supply procurement, SIS data management, and schoolwide communications.
Candidates should hold an Associate Degree in Business Administration or a related field alongside at least three years of relevant professional experience, though equivalent demonstrated work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Proficiency with technology is essential, specifically strong hands‑on experience using Microsoft Excel and Google Drive, including formula creation, as well as the ability to quickly adapt to specialized platforms such as FACTS, UKG, and student information systems. The ideal candidate must be exceptionally organized, proactive, and self‑motivated, demonstrating excellent interpersonal communication skills, sound judgment in enforcing money‑handling policies, and the creative problem‑solving needed to balance diverse administrative, human resources, and accounting priorities.
