Fragomen is seeking an Associate in San Jose to develop expert knowledge of our client base, industries, and practice areas, and to contribute to strategy, research, drafting, and client counseling.

Qualifications

  • Developing an expert-level understanding of the client base, the industries supported, and the firm’s practice areas and services.
  • Associates develop case strategies, including researching, drafting, reviewing, counseling clients, and triaging initiations, and identify and solve escalations and areas of underperformance.
  • Responsibilities include regularly communicating with clients and foreign nationals regarding procedural, case processing issues, and case strategy, and supporting clients in immigration program management and compliance.
  • The position requires assessing eligibility of corporate foreign national employees for non-immigrant and immigrant visa status, and collaborating with client global mobility personnel to prepare petitions and applications for submission to government agencies.
  • Work involves drafting and preparing letters and legal documents, typically based on established precedents, and conducting research to support client requests and projects.
  • Associates directly or indirectly supervise junior Associates and other staff, providing mentoring, coaching, and proactively sharing immigration knowledge and expertise.
  • A key requirement is the ability to draft fluent prose and avoid grammatical mistakes without the aid of AI engines.
  • The role entails ensuring adherence to documented firm standards and policies to mitigate risk and maintain regulatory, operational, and client compliance.
