Business Development Manager, Rigid Packaging (Bottles & Closures)

This is a high-impact, strategic role for a true business builder—someone passionate about customer growth, innovation in rigid packaging, and making meaningful contributions to revenue and market share. What You Need

  • 10+ years of experience in business development or sales within the rigid packaging industry, specifically in bottles and closures.
  • A proven track record of securing and growing accounts in personal care, home care, or beauty care markets.
  • An existing network of decision-makers and influencers at leading consumer products brands.
  • Strong understanding of rigid packaging materials and processes, and familiarity with sustainability trends and regulatory environments.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles—from initial outreach to final negotiation and contract execution.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at the C-suite level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Packaging Engineering, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms, Power BI, and other pipeline and reporting tools.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in building compelling business cases for CAPEX investments and strategic growth.
  • Ability to travel 50% or more for client meetings, industry events, and internal collaboration.
  • A “hunter” mindset—persistent, strategic, and focused on delivering value and creating long-term customer partnerships.

What You Will Do

New Business Development

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities in targeted market segments.
  • Leverage your industry network to accelerate pipeline growth and shorten sales cycles.
  • Develop and present tailored proposals that align with each client’s packaging, innovation, and sustainability objectives.
  • Lead strategic conversations with prospective customers, engaging C-suite and senior leadership to uncover long-term opportunities.
  • Own the entire sales cycle—developing strategies, presenting solutions, negotiating terms, and closing deals.
  • Build multi-level customer relationships that create loyalty and drive repeat business.

Account Growth & Relationship Management

  • Manage and grow selected existing accounts, ensuring retention and expansion.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for customer stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams—technical, operations, and legal—to deliver high-impact packaging solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain a forward-looking sales pipeline using CRM and analytics tools.
  • Provide accurate forecasting and timely updates on opportunities, wins, and risks to senior leadership.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to inform business strategies.
  • Participate in business case development for capital investments and product innovations.

Operational Excellence

  • Utilize workflow tools (e.g., CRM, Power BI, Smartsheet) to manage accounts, track opportunities, and drive sales process improvements.
  • Adhere to and enhance internal processes related to customer service, pricing, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, client events, and industry conferences to build brand visibility and drive engagement.
