Position Description
Hinge Commerce seeks a smart, inventive, and enthusiastic candidate to join our team as a Business Development Manager, focused on growing our Amazon Retail Media and Digital Shelf Content Creation business units. We are seeking a customer-obsessed individual with strong business development, Amazon experience, sales skills and extensive experience in online retail and marketplaces to build collaborative relationships with our clients’ product and ecommerce management teams. This critical role will report directly to the President & COO and will have primary P&L responsibility for the business development, growth, and expansion of Hinge services to mid-market and enterprise level clients. In this role, you will be responsible for developing the strategy and roadmap for new client partnerships, maximizing existing partner enablement strategies, developing a robust pipeline, and managing the sales process from lead generation to onboarding.
The successful candidate will work directly with prospects and clients to define and execute their ecommerce product and marketing strategies on Amazon globally, as well as expanding to other marketplaces (e.g. Walmart, Target, Chewy, Kroger, etc.). This person will be comfortable working in a start-up environment where creativity, invention, and adaptability are important characteristics of success. This person will partner with internal and external stakeholders to understand our clients’ business needs and develop solutions that help to scale their businesses. You should be a motivated self-starter that can work both independently and with others in a fast paced, ambiguous and fluid environment. You must have excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills; leading as an example on how to successfully build lasting business relationships.
Responsibilities Include:
● Pursue, qualify, and move leads through the Sales cycle from lead generation, proposal, contract negotiation, signing and onboarding.
● Manage CRM leads and deals, and report out on a regular weekly, monthly, and quarterly cadence to all internal stakeholders and the Hinge Board
● Evaluate new partners, markets, and own business requirements to achieve goals
● Collaborate internally with marketing, project management, operations and sales to build repeatable playbooks and scalable processes
● Work directly with retailers and brands to identify new product or marketplace opportunities or optimize existing product offerings
● Take lead in responding to RFP’s, including qualification internal coordination, win strategy, and presentation
● Help to envision new business opportunities, and identify the most promising ones for company growth by applying both creative and analytical lenses
● Increase value of current customers with new services and partnership opportunities
● Attend conferences, tradeshows, and industry events to build brand awareness and obtain new clients
Key Competencies and Experience
● Demonstrated ability to communicate and build relationships with C-level executives, business owners and influencers Strong analytical skills and executive-level communication, with a strong analytical approach and crisp communication style
● Ability to develop and lead day-to-day relationships and work with management and multifunctional teams to respond to client needs.
● Understanding of Paid Search capabilities and strategies primarily with Amazon and Walmart
● Understanding of Digital Shelf best practices as it relates to content creation and testing on Amazon
● Excellent follow through to see projects/tasks from beginning to deadline with minimal oversight.
● Ability to be clear, concise, and effective in communication.
● Strategic thinker and tactical execution capabilities to influence and guide clients’ ecommerce investment.
Minimum Qualifications
● 5+ Years of Sales, Business Development, or Clients Services experience
● 3+ Years of Amazon Experience (at Amazon, Agency, or Brand)
● Strong analytical skills, and demonstrated ability to turn detailed data analysis into useful strategic insight in order to drive customer adoption and make appropriate recommendations to the business
● Demonstrated ability to negotiate deals with any internal stakeholder including a C-level audience and positively influence the outcome
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience working at, or with Walmart, Target, or other online retailers
● Experience working within a high-growth, technology company or equivalent professional or military experience would be highly beneficial
● Demonstrated ability to consistently hit Sales quota
● 2 + Years of CRM experience
● Ability to operate successfully in a lean, fast-paced organization, and to create a vision and organization that can scale quickly
● Highly organized, have multi-tasking skills, and efficient in ambiguous situations
