About the Role
We're seeking a high-performing Business Development Manager (BDM) who can source and close new business opportunities aligned with our ideal customer profile (ICP). The right candidate thrives in a modern sales environment and embraces tools like AI assistants, CRM/email sequences, and SMS outreach to drive results.
This is a critical sales role requiring a strong mix of autonomy, strategic thinking, and execution.
- Execute against Oceanwing's North American go-to-market strategy to drive new client acquisition.
- Source and close new business opportunities aligned with the company's ICP and category focus (Pet, Supplements, CPG).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Amazon best practices, performance strategies, and competitive dynamics.
- Achieve or exceed financial and activity-based targets set by executive leadership.
- Leverage available tools and support—including email marketing, automation, and CRM systems—to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Understand and advocate for client needs to ensure alignment with Oceanwing's service offerings.
- Create business cases and go-to-market plans for new clients and services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in North America and China to ensure delivery excellence.
- Represent Oceanwing at trade shows and industry events (up to 25% travel).
- Participate in process improvements across business development and delivery functions.
- 50 documented outreach activities per week (email, phone, LinkedIn, etc.)
- 3-5 prospect calls or capability presentations per week
- Pipeline conversions in line with financial targets
- 5+ years of experience in retail, consulting, e-commerce, or sales/business development roles
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals
- Familiarity with modern sales tools and CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred: Experience working with or selling into Amazon-native or e-commerce-centric brands
- Proficiency with CRM automation, pipeline management, and reporting
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Experience in cross-border teams or overseas business environments
Travel: Up to 25% (industry events, trade shows, client meetings)
