Job description

Gear is a highly parallel smart contract execution platform providing the most intuitive and frictionless environment for web2 to transition into web3. Gear allows developers to program in known languages like Rust, Typescript, and C++. We are looking for talented individuals to join our fast-paced, global team!

Gear is led by a talented team of executives with backgrounds from Parity, Coinbase, Morgan Stanley, and Bank of America. The project is funded and b acked by investors including Gavin Wood, Blockchange, Lemniscap, Distributed Global, Mechanism Capital, and others.

About the position

We are looking to fill our Business Development Lead role. As a part of the Business Development team, your job will be to identify, qualify, engage, and jumpstart conversations with developers, projects, founders and enterprises building in Web3. You’ll spend most of your time prospecting and closing deals with projects building across DeFi, NFts, Gaming, enterprise, and more to ensure a constant pipeline of teams are building on Vara Network.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Execution: Analyze L1/L2 ecosystems and protocols for potential lead generation opportunities.
  • Networking: attend events and conferences to build relationships with key stakeholders including founders, investors and projects.
  • Dapp Growth: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to adapt strategies identifying and onboarding high-impact projects to build on Vara Network. Track trends across blockchain verticals (DeFi, RWAs, Gaming, AI, Infra, etc.).
  • Partnerships: Cultivate relationships with VCs, incubators, accelerators, studios and startup networks to generate leads.
  • Pipeline Management: Own and maintain an up-to-date project pipeline, ensuring clear communication and alignment across internal teams for successful deal execution.

Qualifications

  • A growth-minded independent hustler with 2-4 years of experience in BD, sales, or venture capital, in the blockchain or technology sectors.
  • Extensive experience navigating global markets
  • Crypto Native - Well-established network within Web3 and in DeFi space.
  • Strong understanding of blockchain technologies and experience in leading ecosystem growth, partnerships, or related initiatives.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with a strong focus on organization and process management.
  • A team player who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is comfortable working across different time zones and cultures.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, CS, Engineering or a related field

Nice to haves:

  • Technical Understanding: experience in programming - Rust, C++, Solidity, WASM and EVM.Familiarity with Substrate, or Rust-based solutions.
  • Blockchain Tech Stack: Strong understanding of smart contracts, crypto-economic design, and L1/L2 infra.
