Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Business Development Manager to expand its market data and analytics sales across North America from Chicago in a hybrid role. Responsibilities

  • Drive revenue growth across an assigned territory spanning portions of the U.S. and Canada.
  • Build and manage relationships with buy-side, sell-side, proprietary trading, quantitative, and fintech firms.
  • Develop and execute territory plans designed to increase adoption of proprietary market data and analytics solutions.
  • Identify new business opportunities through networking, prospecting, market research, referrals, and outbound business development efforts.
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle, including qualification, discovery, demonstrations, proposals, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Partner closely with product, research, marketing, and client success teams to deliver tailored solutions to clients.
  • Conduct client meetings, presentations, workshops, and product demonstrations both virtually and in person.
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities and produce accurate sales forecasts.
  • Cross-sell additional datasets, analytics products, and value-added services within existing accounts.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, client events, and market data forums.
  • Gather market intelligence and client feedback to help influence future product development and commercial strategy.

Business Development Manager, Market Data & Analytics Sales

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)

Overview

A leading global financial markets infrastructure and data organization is seeking a Business Development Manager to help expand the commercial reach of its market data and analytics business across North America.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a large, under penetrated territory, working with a diverse client base that includes asset managers, hedge funds, banks, proprietary trading firms, quantitative investment managers, fintechs, and market infrastructure providers. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing adoption of a suite of proprietary datasets and analytical solutions that support investment research, trading, risk management, and market intelligence initiatives.

With significant inbound demand, highly differentiated products, and a rapidly growing North American market opportunity, this position is ideal for a commercially driven sales professional who enjoys building relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and closing complex data and analytics sales.

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For
Required Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or commercial roles within financial markets.
  • Demonstrated success selling market data, analytics, trading solutions, financial technology, research products, or exchange services.
  • Strong understanding of capital markets and market structure.
  • Proven ability to originate and close new business opportunities.
  • Experience managing a sales pipeline and consistently achieving revenue targets.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship management skills.
