Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Business Development Coordinator in the Marketing department, reporting to the Senior Business Development Manager.

This role can reside in either the New York, Houston or Dallas office and will be responsible for supporting the firm’s business development goals for the corporate practice. The Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service, maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assist with the preparation and production of business development presentations, marketing materials and new business proposals.
  • Coordinate with appropriate internal resources to provide competitive intelligence reports and other research to lawyers.
  • Coordinate updates to practice materials and lawyer biographies on firm’s external website and internal proposal database.
  • Assist in production and distribution of firm newsletters, client alerts, invitations and announcements.
  • Assist with updating content on practice-related blogs.
  • Maintain and update mailing lists in firm marketing database – SalesForce – to enable external communication.
  • Gather recent matter information from attorneys and advisors, and update and maintain marketing materials and firm experience database.
  • Assist with the drafting of annual submissions for relevant legal directories
  • Assist with practice and industry-related sponsorships, events and memberships to facilitate the development of the firm’s practice areas.
  • Perform various administrative duties, including scheduling, processing invoices, preparing expense reports, etc.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-4 years prior work experience, preferably in marketing/communications/public relations
  • Prior experience working within a law firm or other professional services firm preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and attention to detail; strong work ethic; and poise and professionalism
  • Ability to prioritize workload, handle several projects at once, work independently and complete tasks under time pressure as necessary
  • Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are important
  • Commitment to professional growth and development

The anticipated base salary range for this position in New York and Washington, DC is $71,000 to $85,000.The actual salary offered will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, years of relevant experience, certifications or other professional licenses held, job-related knowledge and skills, business needs, and the location from which the work will be performed.Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package, which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits, financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility), a discretionary bonus, and various paid time off benefits.Additional information about benefits and rewards can be found here.
