Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a detail-oriented Credit Underwriter to manage underwriting for business and SBA loans, analyze financial statements, and provide risk-guided recommendations across multi-state portfolios.

Responsibilities include presenting credit structures, ensuring covenant compliance, and supporting loan servicing while maintaining clear client communication and documentation quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related area with at least 6 hours of accounting.
• 1+ year in Business Loan experience (up to $5MM)
• 1+ year credit analysis experience
• Demonstrates credit decision making skills and ability
• Excellent writing skills to create credit memos
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate with sales force and credit managers
• Ability to work independently
• Proficiency of Excel and Word to create tables and worksheets for credit memos
• 2 years Business Loan credit underwriting
• SBA program knowledge
• Knowledge of Capital Stream, FIS/BIS
• Knowledge of SOP for SBA guaranteed loans
• Aptitude to think strategically and envision future state of the portfolio

Responsibilities

• Perform credit underwriting related to renewals, modifications, changes in terms, credit reviews and reaffirmations.
• Spread company financial statements and tax returns.
• Analyze financial statements, personal financial statements, and performance metrics to explain variances and address credit strategy.
• Present solutions to credit structure, covenants and financial reporting requirements to the Portfolio Manager.
• Provide specialized risk guidance on existing watch list credits across multiple states.
• Secure financial information and test covenant requirements.
• Provide timely client follow up.
• Ensure loan servicing actions including past due payments, demand letters, lawsuits and liquidations are properly administered.
• Perform site visits if needed.
• Address complaints successfully.
• Resolve documentation exceptions and covenant requirement violations.
