Job summary

KeyBank is seeking a Credit Associate focused on underwriting SBA-guaranteed loans, reporting to the Banking Group Portfolio Management (BGPM). You will gather and analyze credit information, assess risk, and help structure and document loan requests while communicating with field partners.

Under supervision, you will support loan decision-making, ensure compliance with credit policy, and assist in ongoing portfolio management.

Qualifications

• Experience gathering, analyzing, and interpreting credit information to determine credit worthiness.
• Ability to assess risk and make loan recommendations within delegated authority.
• Familiarity with credit policy compliance and loan documentation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate loan requests identifying purpose, risk elements, and collateral adequacy.
• Assess liquidity, management quality, market position, and industry to estimate profitability.
• Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine risk in extending credit.
• Develop credit write-ups and credit recommendations within delegated authority.
• Identify deteriorating credits and recommend restructures when needed.
• Review loan documentation for terms and conditions.
• Maintain credit files and develop spreadsheets to support underwriting analysis.
• Prepare loan packages and monitor loan portfolios.
• Collaborate with bankers and credit partners to improve credit process efficiency.
