Job summary

Apex Systems in Houston seeks a Business Analyst III for a multi-year transformation program focused on Advanced Metering Initiative (AMI). You will leverage operational data to forecast material demand, build dashboards, and develop KPIs to monitor deployment readiness and inventory health.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, Information Systems, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, operational analytics, forecasting, reporting, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with large datasets, work order management systems, and operational reporting environments.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze work order and installation data to identify materials consumed during meter deployment activities.
  • Develop quarterly and annual material demand forecasts to support inventory planning and procurement activities.
  • Create and maintain forecasting models, dashboards, and performance metrics that measure material readiness and deployment risk.
  • Establish reporting frameworks that classify inventory health and deployment readiness as 'Good to Go,' 'At Risk,' or other status indicators.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, and Program Management teams to align forecasted demand with deployment schedules.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze operational data related to meter installations, repairs, maintenance, and field activities.
  • Develop reporting and analytics that measure productivity, quality, deployment performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify trends, bottlenecks, process gaps, and opportunities for workflow standardization and performance improvement.
  • Translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations for leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Support data governance, reporting standards, and analytics best practices across the AMI program.
  • Analyze smart meter telemetry and operational data to identify anomalies and risks.

Schedule: Onsite Monday-Thursdays. Remote Fridays

Role Overview

The Business Analyst III plays a critical role in the successful execution of a strategic 5 to 7-year transformation program, the Advanced Metering Initiative (AMI). This position is responsible for leveraging operational and installation data to support material forecasting, performance reporting, and business intelligence across meter deployment activities. The analyst will develop and maintain forecasting models, dashboards, and key performance indicators that provide visibility into material demand, inventory risk, and deployment readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of data governance, reporting standards, and analytics best practices across the AMI program.
  • Analyze smart meter telemetry and operational data to identify anomalies, performance concerns, and emerging operational risks.
  • Partner with technical and operational teams to determine whether detected issues are attributable to network communications, system integrations, or physical meter conditions.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Engineering, Information Systems, Supply Chain, or related field.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in business analysis, operational analytics, forecasting, reporting, or related disciplines. Experience working with large datasets, work order management systems, and operational reporting environments is required.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with SAP, Power BI, SQL, Google BigQuery, Excel, and other data visualization and analytics tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting utility operations, asset management, supply chain planning, AMI, or field service organizations.
  • Understanding of forecasting methodologies, KPI development, and process improvement principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within a large-scale, multi-year transformation program.
