Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a CDL Bus Driver at the J.M. Tull Gwinnett Family YMCA in Lawrenceville, GA. You will transport youth safely to and from program sites, maintain a positive atmosphere, and ensure adherence to licensing guidelines.

You will attend required trainings, monitor student development, and help plan activities while remaining compliant with safety standards and certifications. This role supports YMCA programs and community services.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Commercial Driver License (CDL).
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must pass background check, BFTS fingerprinting, MVR and drug screening.
• Must pass driving record check to drive for the YMCA.

Responsibilities

• Take daily attendance and monitor program transitions.
• Coordinate supply requests with directors and staff.
• Maintain safety and positive, supportive atmosphere for youth.
• Attend required trainings (Bright from the Start, YMCA, etc.).
• Ensure program runs smoothly and high level of service to participants.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Afterschool Director or Youth Development Director, the CDL Bus Driver provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including, But Not Limited To)

• Take daily attendance at the start of the program and during each transition
• Coordinate supply requests with directors.
• Establish open lines of communication with branch staff and school staff.
• Assist in planning and implementing the program according to YMCA and BFTS licensing guidelines.
• Must attend Bright from the Start, YMCA and other training as scheduled.
• Consult with the Director(s) on concerns related to student(s) development or behavior.
• Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility.
• Stay updated on current issues regarding Out of School programs.
• Promote, monitor, evaluate and ensure that all Out of School programs run smoothly with a high level of service to participants.
• Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Branch and off-site Emergency procedures and any other required certifications and/or training required by the Metro Atlanta YMCA.
• Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and its community.
• Responsible for maintaining and reporting incident/accident paperwork.
• Create an environment that provides various activities and instruction.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Provide sound, caring and positive leadership for youth
• Recognize and implement safety standards during route
• Pass a criminal background check, BFTS fingerprinting, MVR, and drug screening
• Pass a driving record check to drive for the Y
• MUST Possess a Commercial Driver License (CDL)
• Must have own transportation to travel to assigned location
• Must be available to work between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00p.m., M-F
• Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus)
• Be able to provide sound, caring and positive leadership for children
• Attend staff training.
• CPR within 30 days of employment and maintain throughout employment.

Bending, stooping, standing, lifting to 40 pounds, seeing, verbal communication and hearing.
