Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is hiring a Bus Driver for the Covington Family YMCA to safely transport campers and staff to and from day camps and events.

You will teach safety, take attendance, inspect vehicles, and ensure compliance with safety guidelines while delivering high-quality service to families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma OR GED.
• 1+ years of experience working with children in a structured setting.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification; must obtain within 30 days of hire and other required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Teach basic courtesy and safe driving to campers.
• Take attendance and provide safety information at trip start.
• Inspect vehicle for safety and regulations compliance.
• Follow traffic rules and drive safely for passengers.
• Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork.

Nature And Scope

Under direction of the Afterschool Director or Youth Development Director, the bus driver is responsible for the safe transportation of all campers and staff while in route to and from Y Day camp locations and off-site events.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including, But Not Limited To)

• Teach the basic skills of courtesy and safe driving to campers in a safe and respectful manner.
• Take attendance and provide safety information at the start of each trip.
• Inspect the vehicle for all safety guidelines and regulations.
• Follow all traffic regulations and guidelines and drive in a manner that ensures the safety of their passengers.
• Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility.
• Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR,Metro Atlanta YMCA for New Staff Orientation and Branch Emergency proceduresand any other required certifications and/or training required by the Metro Atlanta YMCA.
• Responsible for maintaining and reporting incident/accident paperwork.

Requirements

• High School Diploma OR GED
• 1+ years of experience working with children in a structured setting
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Required certifications current First Aid/CPR;must obtain within 30 days of hire as well as any other certifications for the position
• Pass a criminal background and drug screening check
• Pass a Motor Vehicles Record Check and have own transportation
• CPR within 30 days of employment and maintain throughout employment

• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong customer service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality.
• Pass background checks, BFTS background checks, and drug screening

Ergonomics

Ability to work actively while supervising children. Ability to climb, walk, run, stoop, squat or kneel. Ability to lift and carry equipment to appropriate destinations or affect the carrying of such equipment. Ability to use senses which enable safe supervision including seeing and/or hearing.
