Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is looking for a CDL Bus Driver to ensure safe transportation for children to and from program sites. This role involves coordinating with staff, maintaining safety standards, and providing positive leadership. Candidates must have a valid CDL and be prepared to work Monday–Friday, between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

Job description

Job Overview

Under the direction of the Afterschool Director or Youth Development Director, the CDL Bus Driver provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)
  • Take daily attendance at the start of the program and during each transition
  • Coordinate supply requests with directors
  • Establish open lines of communication with branch staff and school staff
  • Assist in planning and implementing the program according to YMCA and BFTS licensing guidelines
  • Attend Bright from the Start, YMCA, and other training as scheduled
  • Consult with the Director(s) on concerns related to student development or behavior
  • Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility
  • Stay updated on current issues regarding Out of School programs
  • Promote, monitor, evaluate and ensure that all Out of School programs run smoothly with a high level of service to participants
  • Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Branch and off-site Emergency procedures as required by the Metro Atlanta YMCA
  • Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and its community
  • Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork
  • Create an environment that provides various activities and instruction
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Provide sound, caring and positive leadership for children
  • Recognize and implement safety standards during route
  • Pass a criminal background check, BFTS fingerprinting, MVR, and drug screening
  • Pass a driving record check to drive for the Y
  • Possess a Commercial Driver License (CDL)
  • Have your own transportation to travel to the assigned location
  • Be available to work between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday–Friday
  • Knowledge of the rules and guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus)
  • Attend staff training
  • Maintain CPR certification within 30 days of employment and throughout employment
Ergonomics

Bending, stooping, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, seeing, verbal communication, and hearing.

Employment Requirements
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check including criminal record, drug screening, motor vehicle record, and reference check according to company policy
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
