Job summary

Pearland ISD is seeking a dependable School Bus Driver to provide safe transportation for students to and from school and on extracurricular trips. You must hold a valid Class B Texas CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements and the DPS school bus driver certification.

Applicants should be at least 18 years old, able to follow instructions, and maintain a good driving record. The role requires reading and speaking English proficiently and passing drug, alcohol, and medical exams as

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record as defined by the DPS.
• Must pass an annual physical and mental examination as required by the DPS.
• Must pass pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening as required by federal law.
• Must read, write, and communicate verbally in English.

• Evacuate students using the bus emergency door when necessary and follow safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements
• Current Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record for school bus drivers as defined by Texas Department of Public Safety
• Must be able to pass an annual physical and mental examination as required by Texas Department of Public Safety

Experience:

• Experience working with children preferred but not required
• Experience as a school bus driver preferred but not required

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Must be physically able to climb in and out of the school bus emergency door to perform evacuation procedures; continuous sitting, reaching, bending; repetitive hand and arm motions; work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (heat); exposure to vehicle fumes. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
