Job summary

Pearland ISD is seeking a School Bus Driver to provide safe, orderly transportation for students to and from campus and on extracurricular trips. You will operate a Class B bus in compliance with district policies and state laws.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, valid Texas CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, and the ability to pass random drug and alcohol screening and annual medical exams. Prior experience with children is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record for school bus drivers as defined by Texas Department of Public Safety
• Must be able to pass an annual physical and mental examination as required by Texas Department of Public Safety
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening as required by federal law
• Must be able to proficiently read, write, and communicate verbally in English

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements
• Current Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Must be 18 years of age

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Must be physically able to climb in and out of the school bus emergency door to perform evacuation procedures; continuous sitting, reaching, bending; repetitive hand and arm motions; work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (heat); exposure to vehicle fumes. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Pay Grade: 401

Pay Rate: Min. $20.78; Mid $ 24.74

Days: 178
