Job summary

Pearland ISD is hiring a School Bus Driver to provide safe, orderly transportation for students to and from school and on extracurricular trips.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Class B Texas CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, and DPS School Bus Driver Certification. Must meet physical, medical, and drug testing standards and have a good driving record.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record per Texas DPS.
• Must pass annual physical and medical examination per Texas DPS.
• Must pass pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening per federal law.
• Must read, write, and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school and on trips.
• Follow schedules and routes accurately.
• Assist students boarding and exiting the bus and supervise behavior as required.

Licenses And Certifications

Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements

Current Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions

Experience

• Experience working with children preferred but not required

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Must be physically able to climb in and out of the school bus emergency door to perform evacuation procedures; continuous sitting, reaching, bending; repetitive hand and arm motions; work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (heat); exposure to vehicle fumes. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
