Job summary

Pearland ISD is seeking a School Bus Driver to provide safe, orderly transportation for students to and from school and on extracurricular trips. The role requires a valid Class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements and current DPS certification, plus a high school diploma or GED.

Applicants must be 18 or older, maintain an acceptable DPS driving record, and be able to pass required physicals and drug/alcohol screenings. Reading, writing, and speaking English fluently are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Class B CDL with passenger & school bus endorsements and DPS certification.
• Must be 18+ and have a clean driving record as defined by DPS.
• Must pass annual physical and drug/alcohol screening per federal law.
• Must read/write/communicate in English.

Qualifications

Licenses And Certifications

Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements

Current Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills

Must be 18 years of age

Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions

Must maintain an acceptable driving record for school bus drivers as defined by Texas Department of Public Safety

Must be able to pass an annual physical and mental examination as required by Texas Department of Public Safety

Must be able to pass a pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening as required by federal law

Must be able to proficiently read, write, and communicate verbally in English

Experience

Experience working with children preferred but not required

Experience as a school bus driver preferred but not required

Working Conditions

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Must be physically able to climb in and out of the school bus emergency door to perform evacuation procedures; continuous sitting, reaching, bending; repetitive hand and arm motions; work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (heat); exposure to vehicle fumes. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
