Job summary

Pearland Independent School District is seeking a dedicated School Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from school and on extracurricular trips. The role requires maintaining a clean driving record, adhering to schedules, and following district policies.

You will pass a physical, drug screening, and hold a valid Class B CDL with school bus endorsements, plus DPS certification. Applicants should be at least 18 years old, fluent in English, and able to read and follow written and verbal

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record as defined by authorities.
• Must pass physical and drug/alcohol screenings as required.

Licenses And Certifications

Valid Class B Texas Commercial Driver's License with passenger and school bus endorsements

Current Texas Department of Public Safety School Bus Driver Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills

Must be 18 years of age

Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions

Must maintain an acceptable driving record for school bus drivers as defined by Texas Department of Public Safety

Must be able to pass an annual physical and mental examination as required by Texas Department of Public Safety

Must be able to pass a pre-employment and periodic drug and alcohol screening as required by federal law

Must be able to proficiently read, write, and communicate verbally in English

Experience

Experience working with children preferred but not required

Experience as a school bus driver preferred but not required

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors

Must be physically able to climb in and out of the school bus emergency door to perform evacuation procedures; continuous sitting, reaching, bending; repetitive hand and arm motions; work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures (heat); exposure to vehicle fumes. Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
