Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Burn Trauma unit on a part-time, day-shift basis. Two 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM with rotating weekends support neurosurgery, trauma, burns, and orthopedic care in a 34-bed unit.

Responsibilities include vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKGs, IV removal, and specimen collection under RN supervision. BLS is required within 90 days of hire; CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or RN/LPN/RT/PT related coursework preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required) and one of the following is required: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical student, or recent PCT/Nursing Assistant experience.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Experience: One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care including daily living activities, vital signs, mobility, and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter care, adhering to safety protocols.
