Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Burn Trauma unit. This is a full-time, day shift position, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with rotating weekends, supporting a 34-bed unit that handles neurosurgery, trauma, burns, and orthopedic trauma.
The PCT aids with activities of daily living, monitors vital signs, assists with mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, specimen collection, and ensures safety under the RN.
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Burn Trauma unit. This is a Full-Time, Day Shift (12-hour shift) position.
Hours: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM – Three 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week), with rotating weekends.

Burn Trauma is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate care and medical/surgical unit. There are 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate level of care. The patient population is neurosurgery, trauma, burns and orthopedic trauma. The intermediate care patients are received from both the Burn/Trauma ICU and the Neurosurgical ICU. There are also 17 beds for medical/surgical level of care for neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss (gastric bypass and gastric sleeves).
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and documents in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.
