Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Burn Trauma unit. This is a full-time, day shift position, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM with rotating weekends, supporting a 34-bed unit that handles neurosurgery, trauma, burns, and orthopedic trauma.

The PCT aids with activities of daily living, monitors vital signs, assists with mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, specimen collection, and ensures safety under the RN.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required and a listed certification is needed.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year of health care experience is preferred.
• Duties include phlebotomy, EKG testing, specimen collection, and vital signs monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with daily living activities.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKG testing, specimen collection.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion/removal and IV removal when needed.
