Job summary

Salt Lake City School District is seeking an Area Supervisor – Buildings to lead carpentry, painting, locksmith, millwork, flooring and other trades across district facilities. The role directs project work, maintains critical equipment, and ensures safety and compliance while guiding staff and contractors.

The incumbent will manage multiple projects, prioritize safety, and collaborate with administrators and other departments to meet district objectives and timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Three years of direct job-related experience in a specialized building maintenance field.
• Three years of supervising employees in a specialized building maintenance field.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee area functions, prioritize project deadlines and optimize staff utilization.
• Manage project schedules to align trades and staff for multiple projects.
• Estimate materials and equipment for projects to ensure safe, timely completion.
• Coordinate with administration and other departments to complete projects and work orders effectively.
• Prepare and maintain records such as work orders, costs and schedules to ensure policy compliance.
• Respond to emergencies during and after work hours at district locations to address safety concerns.
• Supervise staff: hiring, coaching, workload, training and performance evaluation.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal and district regulations.
