Job summary

UG2 in Seattle seeks a Building Engineer to ensure safe, efficient operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the facility.

You will perform rounds, diagnose issues, and repair components such as boilers, pumps, lighting, and water treatment equipment. The role requires five years of experience, knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems, and strong troubleshooting skills. Compliance with safety policies is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience in facility maintenance or a related field.
• Knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively.
• Proficient in reading system diagrams and technical manuals for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Washington State Electrical Trainee card required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain boilers, compressors, refrigeration equipment, generators, and other systems powered by steam, air, diesel, gas, or water.
• Conduct facility rounds to monitor and maintain mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping, and plumbing systems.
• Repair and replace components such as toilets, sinks, faucets, and dispensers.
• Maintain and repair flooring, including tile and carpet squares.
• Replace and repair lighting fixtures, including bulbs, ballasts, and drivers.
• Perform water treatment for cooling towers, chilled water, and boiler water systems.
• Maintain refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
• Operate and maintain heating systems, including boilers and hot water pumps.
• Facilitate maintenance and repair of natural gas distribution lines and related components.
• Manage water supply systems, including filters, softeners, pumps, and sprinkler systems.
• Operate and maintain electrical motors and control systems, troubleshooting as necessary.
• Maintain fuel oil system components and safety-related equipment.
• Utilize energy/building management systems for operational efficiency.
• Maintain an inventory of parts and materials for maintenance tasks.
• Ensure the physical condition of facility shop spaces is kept in good repair, including painting and drywall patching.
• Repair furniture and fixtures as needed.
