Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Building Engineer in Seattle to monitor, maintain, and repair building systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and safety components. You will implement preventive maintenance, manage energy use, and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 4–5 years of related experience; universal CFC certification preferred and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4-5 years of job-related experience; in lieu of a diploma, combination of experience and education considered.
• Universal CFC certification preferred; certifications/licenses as required by local/state jurisdictions.
• Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs or more and meet physical requirements.
• Ability to exercise judgment based on multiple information sources.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills and inquisitive mindset.
• Sophisticated math skills for percentages, fractions, and related calculations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
• Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards and comply with codes and safety directives.
• Maintain an energy management program and ensure efficiency of systems.
• Assist with preventive maintenance to meet or exceed rated life; perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; keep workplace safe and clean.
• Review inspections of building systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) for design and environmental conditions.
• Apply standard principles to complex assignments and provide innovative solutions; coach others across disciplines.
• Lead by example, build consensus, and support CBRE RISE values.
