Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Building Engineer to maintain mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire safety and HVAC systems at a large commercial facility in San Jose, CA. The role ensures safety compliance and energy efficiency while supporting preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.

Ideal candidates will have 4–5 years of related experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and preferred Universal CFC certification. Local regulatory knowledge and CMMS experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 4–5 years of relevant experience.
• Universal CFC certification is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety codes and maintenance manuals.
• Experience with CMMS and Microsoft Office.
• Shift management or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and HVAC systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety codes and energy efficiency standards.
• Support preventive maintenance and respond to emergency repairs.
• Manage hazardous materials storage, handling, and disposal.
• Assist with inspections and review building systems for operation.
• Mentor others and lead by example per CBRE RISE values.
