Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Downey, CA is seeking an Operating Engineer to perform routine and skilled preventive maintenance on buildings, equipment, and facilities under general supervision.

You will inspect, repair, and test boilers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and building automation, keep records, and coordinate with the Chief Engineer for major issues.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in plant operations, an engineering/technical degree, and a Steam Engineer license.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in Building Plant Operations and Maintenance.
• Experience with building systems including boilers, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment and facilities for proper operation.
• Maintain routine records and diagnose malfunctions.
• Repair or replace parts; test for proper operation.
• Attend to gas-fired steam boilers, hot water boilers, and heaters.
• Adjust steam pressure, combustion, water flow, and safety devices.
• Test boiler water and add chemicals as necessary.
• Service heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
• Replace filters and fluids; maintain repair records.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Perform basic plumbing, piping, and welding tasks.
• Establish courteous relations with staff and patients.
