Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking an Operating Engineer to perform routine and skilled preventive maintenance in hospital facilities. You will inspect equipment, adjust and repair boilers, HVAC systems, and plumbing, and maintain records of repairs.

The role requires adherence to policies, safety rules, and standard procedures on a full-time, on-site basis at the Ventura location. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in building plant operations, relevant licenses, and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• Three (3) to Five (5) years within the last year in Building Plant Operations and Maintenance.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of equipment, controls, and building automation maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints, schematic drawings and technical manuals.
• Employer requires ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Responsibilities

• Upholds Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures and applicable laws.
• Inspects equipment and facilities for proper operation and working condition.
• Maintains routine records and determines type and extent of malfunctions.
• Adjusts, disassembles and repairs or replaces parts and tests for proper operation.
• Reports more serious problems to Chief Engineer for instructions or maintenance scheduling.
• May attend to gas fired steam boilers, hot water boilers, and heaters.
• Tests boiler water and adds chemicals as necessary.
• May service and repair heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
• Replaces filters and fluids and maintains records of repairs.
• Perform a variety of general semi-skilled to skilled maintenance and repairs to machinery, equipment or facilities.
• Performs routine electrical maintenance and replacement of wiring and control equipment.
• Performs general mechanical maintenance of hospital and clinic equipment and related items.
• Perform general plumbing maintenance – pipes and fixtures; bend, cut, ream and thread pipe.
• General welding and cutting of metals not requiring critical tests.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as replacing fuses and lubricating motors.
• Etc.
