Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California seeks an Operating Engineer to perform preventive maintenance and skilled repair duties across hospital facilities. Under supervision, you will inspect equipment, perform adjustments, and coordinate with the Chief Engineer for scheduling.

Responsibilities cover heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems, piping, electrical circuits, and building automation. You will maintain records, test boilers, add chemicals, and ensure safety devices operate correctly.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in Plant Operations, HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing.
• Must hold Steam Engineer Unlimited License (CA) or LA 500 HP License.
• Driver's license where applicable.
• Universal Chlorofluorocarbons certificate within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Inspects equipment and facilities for proper operation.
• Maintains routine records and determines malfunction of equipment.
• Replaces or repairs parts; tests for proper operation.
• Serves heating, cooling and refrigeration equipment including fans, motors, dampers and controls.
• Tests boiler water and adjusts chemistry as necessary.
• Establishes courteous relations with staff and the public.
